ALL-STAR

Object 4118-6 (known as the ALL-STAR).

ALL-STAR is a collective of lifeforms living a purely mental existence. The inhabitants of the ALL-STAR were originally flesh and bone beings whose minds were uploaded into this enormous computer system.

Description

ALL-STAR is a "stellar enclosure": a star-sized planetary object hiding among the stars, and guarded from casual discovery. The existence of the ALL-STAR is generally unknown in the current era, and it predates many of the galactic extinction events. It was discovered in this era by agents of Urtheep Industries, who identified it as Object 4118-6. The planet is the size of Sol. ALL-STAR's functions are powered by an enclosed red dwarf star at it's center.

Under the surface, the ALL-STAR is a Matrioshka Brain, a set of enormous, nested computer systems.

Inside the planet is what could be considered a living computer, including computers functioning as the "brains" of many different species of sophonts. The brain is considered to be a machine ecology, with transduction, self-repairs, and recycling among other things.

Within the ALL-STAR's civilization, a group of beings called the Cadre of Strategic Engineers lead the planet. They work to maintain the world, as well as keeping it and its population secret and safe. In these roles, they have access to incredible technology and exceptional probability-forecasting abilities. Putzho was uploaded by the ALL-STAR, and was quickly instated as a member of the Cadre of Strategic Engineers and sent back out into the world at large to inform and tamper.
