Description[]
Slaruteth Feng is a Unioc-crewed frigate belonging to the Xuvoth Defense Ministry, stationed in the Xuvoth Star System. It is a light warship intended as part of the system's self-defense fleet. Its commanding officer is Captain Mambrul, and its AI is Feng. The ship's basic shape is of a old fashion Tent Stake/Peg.
History[]
The Slaruteth Feng's most noted action was in the Battle of Xuvoth, where a Pa'anuri Warship the size of a gas giant assaulted the system.[1] The ship's crew watched as the warship's enormous gravity well dragged the ice-giant planet Urothi out of its orbit, aimed directly at Xuvoth's main inhabited world, Othlin.
Seeing no hope of repelling the warship, Captain Mambrul decided to sacrifice his ship for information on this grave new threat to the civilization of the Milky Way galaxy. He ordered the Slaruteth Feng on a suicidal attack against the immense invader, while freely broadcasting every scrap of data his ship could possibly collect, in the hope that someone better armed would arrive in time to save Othlin using the knowledge he and his crew had died to gather.[2]
However, the broadcast brought in the AI coalition and their allies to try combat the Pa'anuri Warship.[3] This fleet arrived just in time to save the Slaruteth Feng.
The allies manage to defeat the warship and kill the Pa'anuri soldier powering it. Unfortunately, the Pa'anuri had already used dark-matter engineering to ignite nuclear fusion in Urothi. When it died, the planet-turned-star exploded with the force of a nova, leaving a world-killing blastwave spreading across the Xuvoth System.[4]
With half a billion people exposed to the pseudonova blast, including the entire population of the Unioc homeworld Othlin, the AIs decided to take drastic measures. Petey spoke to Captain Mambrul, telling him that the coalition could save everyone in the system, provided he gave his permission as the system's defender to do what was necessary. The captain gave a quick response to do it, but did not want know the method of how it was to be done, fearing he'd would be too conflicted to give a quick answer.[5] The Fleetmind then used the Soulgig on the entire star system, teraporting the inhabitants' minds to safety in Eina-Afa's Soulvault virtual world, and leaving their bodies abandoned.[6] Thus, even if the blastwave was never stopped and destroyed the whole Xuvoth System, no one there would truly die.
The crew of the Slaruteth Feng were teraported along with rest of the system's population, due to Petey's concern that the Unioc defense fleet would turn on him (after all, he had just used a device that apparently caused everyone in the system to drop dead). The ship was left adrift and lifeless, along with the remaining vessels of Xuvoth Defence Force Navy.[7]
