Oisri

Oisri is a satellite of mysterious origin. Thought to be a storehouse of unthinkable knowledge by The Gavs and an Annie-plant of unthinkable size by the UNS, its discovery drew attention from all corners of the galaxy.

Physical description[]

Oisri's true surface (not counting its crust of icy sediment) is heavily textured at all observable scales. There's ranges of hills and ridges, rippled and rock-and-pebble texturing on the ripples. These rock-and-pebble are further textures with pits and grains, and in turn to have textures at the microscopic and molecular levels. This is described as some form of fractal storage system.[1]

With (at least) six levels of encoding across 32-million square kilometers of surface area, and 3 gigabytes per square centimeter, this may have enough ifn

The only other feature is a perfectly flat section on the planet, which appears to be an optical interface.

Oisri has a very high mass and density, enough to give it a crushing surface gravity. However, it uses a gravy "grav-mask" to partially cancel gravity's pull at close range, giving itself a surface gravity slightly less than Earth's.

Oisri was first quietly claimed by Gavcorp, which decided that the artifact was a massive data storage device. The project also served as a testbed for Gavcorp's new "transmogrifier", which allowed the previously identical Gavs to differentiate themselves with modified bodies, adjusted personalities, and skill modules. The Oisri base was staffed almost entirely with transmogrified Gavs.

Gavcorp hired Tagon's Toughs to run security for the exploration. However, they clearly didn't actually expect an attack, since the Toughs were originally required to patrol unarmed. The security chief only relented when Captain Tagon threatened to quit the contract, then loudly discussed with his officers what an attacker might be willing to invest and stoop to in order to capture Oisri.

Indeed, an enemy was plotting to do just that. UNS Admiral Manyara Emm of Project Laz'R'Us, believing that Oisri was a titanic Annie-plant, ordered it captured. Her special operations department set out to do so by contaminating the Gavs' transmogrification nanites with an exploit called REDhack, allowing them to re-transmogrify them into UNS-aligned nanoweapon-armed supersoldiers. She was also positioned to roll in with the Battleplate UNS Morokweng to take possession of Oisri afterward.

This battle ended in a loss for all sides. Almost all of the Gavs were killed or hacked, and the Toughs lost several members to nanoweapons and drove their own shipmind Tagii mad as a result of misidentifying her as a Laz'R'Us agent (she was in fact a UNS spy, but for Internal Affairs Intelligence and not hostile). However, the UNS infiltrators were wiped out and the Morokweng destroyed when an imprisoned Pa'anuri was released from inside Oisri, and Tagii led it through the Morokweng at the cost of wrecking the Touch-And-Go. Later it was surmised by Petey, that Oisri was a machine for creating Pa'anuri.[2]

As a result of this and other failed missions, Petey decided that Tagon's Toughs were no longer an effective force for good, and (temporarily) convinced them to disband the company and retire.

Numerology[]

Numerology was a known feature of Oisri, used to demonstrate that there is something special about the derelict planet.

  • The radius of Oisri's Grav-Mask is exactly 2063 times her radius.
    • 2063 is the 311th prime number.
    • 311 is the 64th prime number,
    • 64 is 26
  • Osiri Dig Base performed single light pulses to positions 8, 13, 21, 34 and 55. This is the Fibonacci sequence.

Note that a comic back in Resident Mad Scientist mentioned that there's no answers in coincidental numerology.[3]
