It should be noted these ranks may very depending on what service/faction a character belongs to. Listing of Army ranks will vary, since Major is also Captain, and Naval Captains are Colonels in Armies/Marines style organizations.

Human Military Ranks[]

These are the ranks used by both the UNS military and Tagon's Toughs. Ranks are listed from highest to lowest, with the caveat that the hierarchy between the general and admiral ranks are ambiguous in the series (the admiral and general ranks of each tier are potentially equivalent). Colonel	^[9]	Pranger, Peter DeHaans	Colonel is confirmed to outrank captain^[10]. This is seen with both olive^[9] and white^[11] uniforms
Major	^[12]		Major is assumed to be between Colonel and Captain based on present day military ranks
Captain	^[13]	Kaff Tagon	This is seen with both orange^[13] and olive^[14] uniforms. Within Tagon's Toughs, Orange is the uniform color of Captain.
Commander	^[13]	Kevyn Andreyasn, Ellen "Elf" Foxworthy, Doythaban
Lieutenant Commander	^[15]	John Der Trihs, Shodan
Lieutenant	^[15]	Ebbiroth, Pibald	This has the same Epaulette style as Lieutenant Commander (a rectangle)^[16]. This is seen on both red^[15] and olive^[17]uniforms. There are multiple grades of Lieutenant, including Junior Lieutenant^[18].
Ensign	^[19]	Ventura, Michelle Diego-Garcia
Chief Warrant Officer	^[19]	Gunther Thurl	This has the same Epaulette style as ensign (a triangle)^[20]
Sergeant	None	Schlock
